We are a full service medical, surgical, dental, boarding, grooming, & supplies facility for animals. We have been serving the Washington Heights community for more than 12 years. Our goal is to provide excellent medical care while showing compassion for our pet patients and their owners.

Riverside Animal Clinic is a hospital that has voluntarily achieved high standards. These Standards pertain to facilities, equipment, practice methods, and management. Our veterinarians provide quality medical care to companion animals; Our veterinarians successfully conduct their practices and maintain their facilities with high standards of excellence; and to meet the public's need as they relate to the delivery of small animal veterinary medicine.

   Our highly trained Doctors, Dr. Javier Ramos and Dr. David Balch, have an experienced background, specialized in small animals in New York City for many years.  Dr. Javier Ramos did his Animal Science and Biology Studies at Kansas State University; then he did his Medical Studies at Ross University; and his Clinical year at Oklahoma State Univeristy. Dr. David Balch completed his studies at The University of Bologna, at Italy.  He has been colaborating at Riverside Animal Clinic for 13 years. Our Technician, Dominic Faringthon, has been working with us for over a decade, and he will be happy to help you with any concern that you may have about your pet, or with any information that you may need.  He can also give your pet the hair cut of your choice, or simply a complete bath.  Our Veterinary Assistants Sonnia Idrovo and Evelyn Rosario are highly experienced in handling animals, are very compassionate, and are the ones who make sure at all time that your pet is comfortable, secure, and happy while staying with us.  Our Office Managers, Evannie Ramos and Paloma Bonito, and our Secretary, Triana Roque, who recently joined our family team, will be happy to welcome you and your pet, along with Lilac, our resident cat, who always is at the front desk, receiving every pet that comes to the clinic. At Riverside Animal Clinic, we consider each pet to be special and unique, and we take pride in treating your pets with the same quality of care that we would demand for our own.

About Riverside Animal Clinic

  • We speak English and Spanish (Se habla Español)
  • We accept Friends of the Animals Certificates (Low cost spay/neuter certificate.  For more information log on to www.friendsofanimals.org)
  • We provide Comprehensive Services, Vaccinations, Surgeries and X-rays, ultrasound, spay, neuter, dentistry, declaw, mass removal etc., and laboratory services. These are all done on our premises for your convenience.
  • Emergency Visits welcome.
  • Nail trim for dogs, cats, reptiles and exotics.
  • Wing and nail trim for birds.
  • Nutrition.
  • Grooming for dogs and cats - Baths and special cuts.
  • Boarding - Dogs are walked 3 times a day; owners are welcome to bring blankets or toys to keep their pet comfortable for their stay here.
  • Pet supplies - Collars, leashes, carrying cases or bags, scratching post, litter boxes, litter, toys, treats, vitamins, hairball remedies, glucosamine, Heartguard and Frontline.
  • Maintainence diets, Perscription diets
  • Special orders for food and supplies if available.

Our staff works as a team caring for all our patients. We provide our clients with the guidance they need to make informed decisions with regard to their pet's health.

Full Medical & Surgical Care for your Pets

Riverside Animal Clinic is a full service, small animal facility that includes examinations, vaccination, major and minor medical conditions, surgery, dental health, ultrasounds, in-house lab test for emergency evaluations, and X-rays.

Exotic pets are not out of the ordinary at Riverside Animal Clinic. We treat birds, hamsters, rats, chinchillas, rabbits, turtles, and snakes to name a few.

Maintenance Diets, Prescription Diets and Pet Supplies

We carry a variety of diets for dogs and cats.  If we are not carrying a specific food or brand, you can ask our receptionist for it, and she will probably special order it for you.  Some of the Foods that we carry are:

      • Science Diet: Maintenance formulas, Weight Management, Hairball Control, Indoor Formula and Hills Prescription Diets.
      • Purina:  Prescription Diets.
      • Natural Choice:  Maintenance Formula, Hairball Control, Weight Management.

      • We now carry Evo and Innova Maintenance Diets!

    We also have a different variety of pet supplies, including collars for dogs and cats, leashes, carry cases or bags in different sizes and styles, scratching post, catnip, litter boxes and pans, litter, litter scoopers, toys, bowls, shampoos (regular and medicated), vitamins, supplements (glucosamine), hairball remedies, kitten and puppy milk, treats, prescription treats and much more.
